Original
Ground Floor Plan
With its inefficient use of space, cramped layout and lack of attention to flow, the original floorplan of this £1.3 million home in Surrey simply didn't do it justice.

⦁ The location of the entrance door was awkward and impeded by traffic coming up and down the staircase.
⦁ The study was adjacent to the kitchen and didn't have a door, making it impractical for quiet work or study.
⦁ There was no strong relationship between the indoor space and the spacious back garden.
After close consultation with the homeowners to confirm their needs, the new layout transformed the home and made the most of its full potential.
Optimised
Ground Floor Plan

⦁ Removing the wall between the two reception rooms gave the home a much grander, more spacious and flexible reception area that was perfect for entertaining.
⦁ Reconfiguring the stairs made the position of the entrance doorway far less awkward and allowed a much easier flow of traffic.
⦁ Relocating the study to the end of the entrance hallway gave it far more privacy, reduced noise from the busy kitchen and made it far more condusive to productive work or study.
⦁ Opening up the space between the original study, kitchen and utlity areas created a single, airy multi-living space full of light and life.
⦁ By extending the external fabric to the rear and adding bi-fold doors, the new layout maximised natural light and transformed the main living space and its relationship to the outdoors.
